Just curious. What are some other photo forums you visit? Everyone is really nice here, but I'm also wanting to see the "elitist" forums, or the ones where the people are kind of nasty in their critiques. I won't be posting photos myself, as I'm too new, but I wouldn't mind reading there.

I guess I learn from negative/abusive feedback, lol, but I'm a member of a poetry forum where you are almost terrified to post new material. I kind of like that atmosphere when it comes to crits.

thanks.

Hey Ruining that wheelie Sucks!!....

Thanks, effin' a-hole s-ball. That's precisely what I was looking for!

thought that would make you happy. We could start a subforum that is kind of a "No holds Barred forum" where people want criticism of there work, not a place to outright bash a photo but a forum that is meant to be a bit harsh, if people dont want harsh criticsm they shouldn't go to this subform. How do we get this done?

I was reading another thread on that topic, but people seem unwilling to say what's on their mind here because they are afraid to offend someone. Even in a designated topic?

On the poetry site, if something is crap, they tell you it's crap. There is no beating around the bush. Art is subjective, but there are technical standpoints that people can comment on without bashing. It reminds me of the 100 + "thanks for participating" trophies that were given to the little leaque players so that nobody felt left out. Lame.

So their is a thread dedicated to that. I am new to this site so I dont know all the areas. I think we should start go to that thread an push for more honest criticsm. Its all in the attempt to make us better photographers and if someone doesn't like what was said they dont have to listen to it. A disclaimer could be posted asking people to leave their manners behind, No taking shots at the person who took the photo, nor about how ugly to person in it may be, but rather about how poor the compositino is. Lets get this rolling some how. What is the thread you speak of so I can check it out? Is it a thread or its own Forum? I think it needs to be a forum in and of itself.

This is precisely what the critique gallery is for.

There is no excuse in any forum for being just plain nasty about a photograph but if you are looking for an honest appraisal of your work then that's the place to post it!

Just remember to follow the critique guidelines about posting your image and you'll get some informative responses, not just on the visual content but also on the technical merit too.

none compare to TPF. :sillysmi:

my wonderful TPF.

k, Chase.... fork over the cash.

I think the first 2 replies from Hobbes & Chase sum it up pretty well!

If you can see the focus is off or the composition isn't right then say so but remember to also say why and how it can be corrected!

I've been on other forums before, and have amassed the amazing number of 40 some posts on both... **looks over at post count**

I'm doing a bit better here.

I do hang a little at the APUG forum(B&W mainly) and Fred Miranda(cool for studio type stuff).
