Out with friends, got a few photos for fun. needed some practice, probably need more.

I was out with some friends at Leu Gardens in Orlando..at high noon. damn it was HOT, and BRIGHT.
anyway, I had brought the camera and decided to get a few shots of them just to practice.
not a big fan of B&W, but gave that a shot too. tried a few landscape, and a few portrait.
just messing around. My processing skills are a little weak, so i needed the practice.
I noticed that the sun being right above us proved somewhat problematic with the lighting, and there was little escape from it in the gardens.
wouldn't mind a few suggestions on how I could have done better from some of our pros here, but i DID post in the just for fun section so...bear that in mind please.

oh yea, Leu Gardens closes early so there isn't any chance to get pictures there closer to sundown..

I actually think these all came out pretty good. The exposure is pretty spot on, even for these harsh lighting conditions. I think the couple look great and you captured them very well.

I appreciate the compliment. I think next time i want to get some people shots, i will try and find a more controlled environment. Not always possible i guess.

What sort of processing did you do on their skin? Something looks off.

toned down the red just a HAIR, but otherwise nothing was done to the skin tones. He is VERY ginger and got out there after a mile of hiking and got VERY red. and sweaty. Is there something else I could have done? feel free to edit if you would like.

#1 and #8 are the best. Good modeling light and good contrast.

it was so bright out, most were shot at f/11 or f/16 depending on where we were. I was trying to get a few different apertures just to see the differences. went up to f/8 on a few in think. I should have taken a few at f/22 just to see. would have been a good learning experience.

High Noon/Full sun requires flash for your subjects AND your backgrounds to be properly exposed. A reflector may cut it at times, but the harshest of sun? Flash.
2 & 7 are your best shots here that have a natural look to them.
