Overcast Beach C & C welcome

Not sure what to think of it, its my first go at landscape so help is indefinitely welcome

Hi mate,

For me this photo has a lot of good in it, the exposure looks good, the shot looks sharp, composition is nice with good foreground, middle ground and background objects, you've some nice water movement and interest in the sea and a cool rock formation in there too acting as a central focal point. I would have liked to have seen a touch more of the houses on the RHS, it feels a bit abruptly cut off, like there is more to see but you might be able to see.

The big thing about landscapes is light. How it moves across the landscape can add drama and that wow factor. You don't allways need a good day either, stormy skies can add a really cool mood. But that's where this shot falls down, it's a bit flat because the grey skies mean everything is evenly lit. Try shooting near dawn or dusk, that's often the best time to get some great photos with stunning light. On overcast days where the sky is one shade of grey it's just not a great time to shoot landscapes.

I'd love to see this shot again with better lighting as I can imagine that it would be really nice. Overall it's a pretty good attempt for your first landscape, so well done! All the elements of a good photo are there, you just need better light.
