Interesting looking bird. Wonder why they call them oyster catchers... where's the challenge in that? Oysters are not mobile...

Nice shot and bird, blur effect around the grass is interesting and works here I think!

@jeffashman - good question. Never occurred to me but as usual Wickipedia has some of the answer:

"The common name oystercatcher was coined by Mark Catesby in 1731 for the North American species H. palliatus, which he described as eating oysters. Yarrell in 1843 established this as the preferred term, replacing the older name sea pie."

I can only think that that the word catch is used in its slightly broader meaning as in a catch of fish at sea etc.

@wobe - Its the DOF. I was using a 400mm with a 1.4x attached.
