The Rainbow Man is gone, and Just Alan is gone, but a lot of the old timers are still there and the music played in the stores hasn't changed. It is still one place where tie-died shirts are not ironic. And I've seen some excellent photography in galleries there.

Last time I was there was for family reunion on my GP's 90th (1984) birthday if I recall correctly. Rick Danko's place where B. Dylan and the Band would jam was our neighbor. Remember hippies naked in the town square. Those hippies were the businessmen in the 80's. Lot's and lot's of memories from my youth.

If I remember correctly, Rick Danko's place was the "Big Pink" of the Band's album, "Music From Big Pink." I never knew - or heard of Rick Danko, but I used to pass the big pink building when heading out of town.

Honestly never saw the house, it's across the street in the woods but I don't think it was pink. Dylan and the Band jammed and recorded there all through the mid/late 60's and on.
