Being inspired for roughly 10 minutes by @jcdeboever before having to restart my mowing .. I took some pics from around my yard. I've wanted to work on Contrast and interesting lines which I've seen with these Mushrooms in my yard.

1 . Standing tall - this was a bulbous 'shroom the night before, then flattened out in the morning.

2. Interesting Patterns

4. All in the Family

5 . One of my flowers. I had bunches of tulips but those are over. I'm waiting for all my butterfly/hummingbird plants to come up yet.

6. and I'll throw in one of my recent soccer pics that has no correlation to the others ....

#2 & 3 have some interesting patterns but my thought is a much tighter crop. #6 I find interesting. What are the spots/drops? You could really expand on this theme, all kinds of possibilities.

#2-3 - you're right. a tighter crop would work. My LR was having all sorts of problems though with the D500 NEF files. It kept closing. After an hour I did an update and it seemed to have fixed it. But I was fried by then LOL

# 6 - the drops are rain ...
or maybe a bunch of alien orbs ... I can't recall, I woke up later in the middle of the field after a bright light.

I love six, you froze the rain and good composition. I agree with smoke somewhat on the crop of #2. I would have cropped so that no ground was showing or even got down on my belly with a macro and shot close and tight. But heck, I wasn't there so it's easy to see or say something while not trying to take anything away from your vision.

I like the uncorrelated soccer picture best. :cool-98:

Then the little ones.

I wish I thought of trying to lower the shutter speed with the raindrops to see the effects. Something to test when it's raining again.
But in these cases it's a quick flick of the camera to get the shot and back to the action. I think it was 1/2,000 Shutter on the APS-C D500, and Nikon 80-200@2.8. I like the anguish facial expression, though I think we won 4-1. I was standing under a large tent nice and dry. LOL

I was using my pseudo 1:2 macro lens in the shot at 85mm. So I was close, wasn't much cropping for that. I did use a deep aperture f/16 to get more detail over a wide range. I agree though that my main concept was the texture of the mushrooms thus a liberal amount of cropping (or closer) to reduce the grass (distraction) would be good for the shots now that I have input.

It's not the greatest of lenses, but gets the job done ==> AF Zoom-NIKKOR 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF from Nikon

I love shooting sports in inclimate weather. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen much out here.

I think I have some shots of snow on the top of the head ...
