There's one for sale locally for $70 with the following:

• Pentax K1000 made by Asahi Optical Company (with cap)
• Sigma zoom lens 35mm to 70mm (with cap)
• 500mm telephoto lens (with cap) by Ozone USA Inc
• Focal M-200 Flash (with hot shoe extender) uses 4 AA batteries which are NOT included
• Rolev 52mm Rotating Polarizer (for Sigma Lens)
• Rolev 52mm Haze Filter (for Sigma Lens)
• Vivitar Cleaning Kit
• Shutter extender cable for time lapse photography
• MacGregor four chamber carry bag with side pockets and strap.

The K1000 is an awesome camera. It was my very first SLR. You just want to make sure the insides are clean and work properly. $70 isn't bad. They go for around $50 in the used camera shops around here. EXCELLENT first camera. (it was even the SLR in my first photography text book) I then bought a Pentax 645 for work before we went digital. Man I miss those days sometimes.

Thank you.

Just looking for something neat to shoot with now and then... looked like a pretty complete package for the money.

The rest of the kit is "meh" It's all about the camera body.

I agree, but it would give me something to shoot with and not have to invest more into it.

Pentax makes very good lenses and cameras, they are often under rated. I have a K-7 myself and I know a photographer for National Geographic who only uses Pentax equipment.

I sold dozens of them back in the day when I worked at a camera store back in '79-'81. Built like a tank and reliable. I owned a Pentax MX back then. Good times.... Even today I love Pentax. I am happy with my choice of Sony, but If I was choosing now may very well have gone with Pentax. (Nothing has changed for me - 30 years ago it was also Pentax and Minolta. lol I sold my Minolta XE-5 to buy the MX)

The K-7 is so tough, I can take showers with it!

I have an SRT 202 listed on CL for half of that and you can get it with a 28mm for the same price. I think it is a better deal.

The K1000 is built like a tank but the rest of the deal seems pretty worthless to me.

If you want to see my ad, here it is:
Minolta film bodies and lenses

Film cameras are for the most part worthless but some of the better ones are still getting decent prices. And so are some of the old lenses. I just sold a 20 year old Minolta lens for $700...

I own one from when I took photography classes in high school (about 16 or so years ago). For only $70, I don't see how you could go wrong, provided the glass is relatively clean and everything works. Max shutter is 1/1000, max flash synch is 1/60, min shutter is 1/2 + bulb, ISO selector goes from 20-3200. Fun little camera. I don't know how the shutter cable allows time lapse photography...it's probably just a regular cable release.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info!

I think I'm going to pass... I have a feeling it will be something I buy, use a couple times, then sell for a loss.

Pass on this one, yes. But if your are interested in film photography, it is a good body worth looking for.

I don't think you should pass. Pentax uses the same K mount they always used, you will be able to use any of their excellent lenses.

With that line of reasoning, LA should buy an old Nikon film camera.

Kind of what I was thinking Infidel... at least some of my stuff would already be compatible, I think.
