Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I have just recently had to upgrade to a new pc with 64 bit windows 7. It feels very sluggish when I'm working in photoshop and various other tasks.
My computer now has more threads and a lot more ram than my old one I don't see why it should be slower when editing and rendering.
My real question is...does anyone here process images using linux instead of windows and if you do is it easier or is your performance improved at least?
thanks a million.

Not sure about linux but I can tell you that when I upgraded to a better desktop machine from my old laptop, running win7 64-bit I was pleasantly surprised with the performance increase.
Are you using the 64-bit version of photoshop?

No.
What are your PCs specs?

What< something is wrong with your pC or something. IF you're using 64 bits Window 7 and 64 Bit Photoshop, you shouldn't be slow. Did you buy the PC from a factory or build it? There has to be something wrong.

64 bit Window 7 require at least 4g Rams right? You can run it on 2 but it'll be slow, need to be 4g which is the minimum now and days. What is your set up and specs.

I don't think so, mine is 64-bit as well and runs well most of the time. I say most of the time because sometimes if I have photoshop, lightroom, photomatix and portrait professional all open at the same time and working on a bunch of different files it can slow the system down quite badly, but I don't usually do that.

How much ram is your comp running?

Its a gateway, I removed all the bloatware and everything and still slow. A few days ago I wiped and did a clean install with a stock copy of windows.
Its running AMD Phenom x3[3 cores @ 2.3ghz], 4gigs of DDR3 ram, HD radeon 4250. I'm still pretty new to photography. I've been building PC's for years
so it doesnt make much sense why I would perform worse now than before. Am I just not running a good enough machine?

No idea why your computer is running so slow with it, your specs are fine.
