Took a walk with the wife and daughter onto an active commercial fishing dock for some photos and culture for the kid. Spent more time explaining things to my daughter than shooting, but got a few nice ones. C&C not required, but always welcome. Enjoy!
1.
Net on the deck of a purse seiner. Stacked, and ready to be set. This particular net is for catching herring for the Sitka Herring Sac Roe fishery going on right now. Nat Geo did a special on this fishery a few years ago. Quite a spectacle to see! I believe the show was called Battle Fishing, if you're at all interested. f/4, 1/1250 sec, ISO 200
2.
I really liked the colors on this boat and how they contrasted, and worked together. This particular boat is, I believe a long liner. f/4, 1/1000sec, ISO 200
3.
This is the State of Alaska Fish and Game vessel, the M/V Kestrel. Its home port is Petersburg, AK (I think), but is here specifically for the herring fishery I mentioned earlier. I like this shot because you have the big government boat, towering over all of the smaller boats. Political message? You be the judge!
