It's a good example of a grossly under exposed photo.
Being able to see the man's face and expression would be more interesting than seeing the back of his head.
An alternative would be being able to see what he is looking at.
Using Camera Raw I added 2 stops of exposure, increased the mid-tone contrast, and globally applied a small amount of sharpening.
