The banding is all done at the same time. They band them like a resistor. Each bird has a unique combo of bands.

its actually got 3 bands if you look closely in the first photo you can see a orange band on the right leg

You have mastered this difficult situation with the hard light well. Despite the very bright, hard light you can still see the marking in the bird's white. Maybe next time even aperture 8 instead of 7.1? I particularly like the pose on the second photo.
