I think that the interesting part of this scene are the willows. As such, the way you're presenting the photo, the willows take kind of a supporting role to the road (which, incidentally, is the brightest part of the frame).

May I suggest the following crop? Ideally, I'd like to see more of the willows though.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that edit (though with a wee bit more roadway) and presented both versions in two different shows. The original sold better than the edit though, like yourself, I prefer the shortened road and that's the version that hangs on my wall at home. Go figure.

The "Willows" are actually Southern Naval Oaks which have Spanish moss draping from the limbs. They are magnificent trees whose timbers were used to build the mighty sailing warships like the USS Constitution. These particular trees are over 300 years old.

Very nice shot. Good tonal range, and I prefer the crop they way you did with more road. It gives me a more sense of place.

hmmm... This is a tough call for me. Most times I either strongly like or dislike an edit. In this case I can't decide.

The impressive trees are a strong subject, but my first thought of the OP's photo was that the foreground needed something to it--or perhaps taken away because the bright road takes attention away from the trees. I'm not sure if a crop does anything either.

Perhaps a different angle or working something with the fence on the right might help.
