Playing around with lightroom

Just a suggestion, but you might want to change from photos not ok to edit, to ok to edit. I suspect you will get some more constructive ideas that while are only suggestions, are suggestions that come from more experienced eyes.

There are some outstanding talents in just about every facet of photography from around the world here on TPF. In addition to Bullduram's comment above, when you don't indicate you're receptive to C&C many are hesitant to respond. Putting "C&C appreciated" or similar verbage at the end of your post will indicate you are.

Then let me make a suggestion. Rather then posting random snapshots.

• Pick a subject for a photograph. It can be anything you want.
• Now study that subject. Walk around it, watching the light. Which angle provides the best view.
• Think about how you want that subject to look. High key, low key, soft, harsh shadows, etc. Where should it sit in the frame.
• Now set you aperture, shutter, and ISO to reflect your vision and take the shot. Bracket your exposure until you get an exposure you like.
• Now pull it into LR and process it to reflect your original vision
• Once you're, satisfied post that image up on TPF for review.

This is really helpful advice. i've been taking notes on my computer. i've got a lot to work on!

I agree with the tips Smoke posted above. Check out the Weekly Challenges in the Photo Theme section. The weekly challenges have pushed me to shoot something with purpose. It helped me to try and shoot something I normally would have not shot. Schnauzers, kids and flowers are my usual.

that actually sounds fun and a really good learning experience for me. I'll definitely check it out!
