Playing jounalistic photog for the day! C&C welcome

So there was a standoff here in Manchester that lasted 36 hours. In the end the little girl being held hostage was safe and her father who was holding her hostage was killed by the SWAT team when he started shooting at them. I played freenlance photog for the local news station. It was interesting.

It was interesting to stay for hours at the scene with just my D80, 70-300mm Sigma, and my netbook to upload the photos right on the scene with very little PP. I am not going to lie, I really liked it. Horrible situation but very cool experience photography-wise!

Here is an idea of what the street looked like. This was just one block. There were like six blocks shut down with officers, SWAT cars, troopers, and Incident trucks. It was crazy.

I know, she is going to be in therapy for a long long time. I guess the story is that he took her from her mother in a restaurant and when the police came at 7:30 Thursday night for a welfare check on the child he drew a gun. Then it went on until around 11am this morning. He has a baby with this girl's mother as well. Sad that these children will grow up without a father. Probably will never know why he did this either.

If you took those for a local news station you may want to think twice before posting them anywhere other then with the news station.

I own the rights, not them. I wasn't contracted, wasn't paid. I called them to ask how to upload, told them what I was shooting, they told me what they wanted for the story.
