Playing with lensflare!

Went up Provo Canyon today with a friend to get out. We hiked along the Provo River and drove up to the overlook. Lately I have been playing with lens flare quite a bit. For some reason I like seeing it so I have been reproducing it. Had the group not been in the photo at the overlook I would have probably made a special set of exposures to get rid of the lens flares (the good ol' finger over the sun trick). But they didn't move from that spot. So I decided to include them in the photo, which I think adds a little bit of character to the photo.

They distract me as well. I do think that leaving the group in the first shot was a good choice. It gives it some added interest and perspective.

I'd like to see less sky in the first photo. Maybe as much sky above the sun as ground below the people.

Really like the second one.

I like #2, but I would have cut some of that road/path off of it.

Well, the second shot doesn't do anything for me, the flare is distracting and the composition seems a bit static. the first one I like but agree that if the camera had been rotated down and to the left just a hair. . . . . . . Of course now I'm just picking at nits.

I like both of them. I disagree with the comment about removing some of the sky. I like the view of how small we are to the world, and this picture shows it well. The second picture is stunning too.
