Point and shoot

Hello,
I work a lot abroad, and often to countries such as angola, saudi arabia, nigera etc.and i always want to bring my dslr, but i find its too big and bulky, especially pn jobs when i go off-shore. also its big easy to see, and i dont want to become someones target.
So for practicle reasons, Id like to have a point and shoot. My question is, whats the best buy I can get for around 200 euros? Id like one that can save pictures in raw format.

Hi Psytrox - I have traveled in Africa and the Middle East for work, and I agree - it is a good idea to leave your DSLR at home. Sadly, the Canon S95 is 369€ new and 297€ used at Amazon - so it's a little above your budget limit.

You might want to look at the Canon SX260 instead. CNET calls it their best consumer compact, and it is closer to your budget at 220€ new or 202€ used.

I don't know from Euros, but I know I'm pretty damned happy with my Canon G12...

Thanks for the respons

I think I'll give SX 260 a go when I get back home. See what its like in the shop.
The G12 looked prety good, but is also out of the price range of what im willing to spend on a point and shoot. After all, it will mostly be used for snap shots, rather then photo's, for friends and family that want to see distant lands :lol:

The G11 is essentially the same camera as the G12 and a used one might be close to your range.

Yeah, my brother just picked up a used G11 for $200.00, and he couldn't be happier with it...

Sadly, the Canon G11 is 344€ new at amazon.de and 299.50€ used on eBay.de - still a little above the 200€ budget level.

I couldnt find any used here in norway on our version of craigslist. Buying it used on amazon would be pointless, because by the time i get it to norway, through customs and payed all the VATs and etc, it will probably be as expencive as buying a new one in the shop...
