A street photo taken in San Francisco...

The composition does not follow the Rule Of Thirds, the subject is much closer to the center of the photo. Does it 'work' anyway?

The 'rule of thirds' is a suggestion not a rule to live by, I think it works. Cool pic!

I like it as is, but am wondering if it wold better if it was cropped a bit on the right hand side. Just cutting off the two rightmost officers. Right down the middle of the two upper shoulder crests (I like the officer on the right, but am thinking having your main subject on the right side of center a bit more looking into the middle of the photo would work better than him on the left of middle looking out. (Again, great photo either way. just a thought for an edit..) It would mean going for an 8X10 rather than 4X6 ratio I think as well (eyeballing on smaller screen)

Unless the guy on the far right is significant (Related / partner ....) in which case leave him in for sure.

Agreed, Officer Shades on the right is in pretty good focus and has a lot to look at too, so he's competing for my attention. I would like to see this with a square crop, because the baby in the center works for me. That expression is adorable!
