I have a flickr account that I upload most of my pictures to, but to be able to post them onto other sites, I need to follow their terms and services. As far as I know, this means I must link it directly back to that page using HTML code. Am I wrong in this assumption? And I need to use HTML code to post them onto this or other forums, why can't I use HTML code on TPF?

That's gonna be how you do it.

You can do it like this:

But in general, I do not bother, and just post the link to my pic. If you click on the pic above, it goes directly to the flickr page where this pic is located. I do this by insertng a pic and highlight the pic and add a link to the flickr page that this pic is located on.

So I can just copy and paste it into my post? I see that I can't use the "insert image" for the flickr page the image is on. How did you get the picture to display and also link back to the flickr page...I think you explained it, I just couldn't quite catch exactly how to do it.

I use the INSERT IMAGE, but don't use the big link that flickr gives you, but the shorter one underneath.

I then use the INSERT LINK after selecting the photo and useing the link in my browser address bar to link back to flickr.

Make sure that the pic you are posting to is not protected from public viewing... else only you see it and no one else... but basically, yes thats the way.

When you hit the "INSERT LINK" button, it will already have "http://" in the dialog box. Make sure you overwrite that and not paste your URL next to it. In your test above, the link is listed as such... http://http://your url.

You probably right clicked and hit "paste". Unless you specifically right click directly on the "http://" that is already in the dialog box, it will paste your link next to the text already there. I've done that hundreds of times. I just "control-V" paste it in instead of using the mouse.

Ahhhhh okay...so like this....except I think I have photo as private on my flickr....

You do ;)

I understaind that a link to Flickr in your signature will fulfill the requirements to post pictures hosted by Flickr.

See my signature....

Cheers, Don

Oh...so I don't have to link the picture back, if I have a link back to my profile?

This is from their site -

Do link back to Flickr when you post your Flickr content elsewhere.
The Flickr service makes it possible to post content hosted on Flickr to outside web sites. However, pages on other web sites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr.

However you added your image, it automatically links back...

Seems to me I used to have trouble with the links they provided so what I do now is left click on the image I want on Flickr, copy the url and then use the "insert image" button here to add it to my post.

Such as....

So I include a link in my signature, it's a small price for a free service.

Cheers, Don
