A tilted horizon, very dark at all corners and a weak centre of interest round off the problems with this shot. Colour is interesting but the shot needs more.
It always kind of stinks to hear from others that a photo you particularly like isn't exactly up to snuff. I really do appreciate the honest shake though- especially because I got more than "it's bad." =0)
As far as the horizon being uneven- there were actually a few things in the photo that could have been considered horizon. The water, the beach, or the dune in the foreground with the fence. I guess I chose the wrong one- oops.
As for the dark corners- I think everyone goes through a photo editing phase once in awhile. When I first got photoshop (at 16), I used the heck out of brightness contrast. At 18 I fell in love with desaturate. I guess 24 is my year of vignetting. Hahaha...
I think another issue is that I haven't exactly learned how to use SRGB yet. I've read up on it a little, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to work. For that reason, a lot of my images wind up looking muddy and a bit darker on the web.
