Print question

My friend claims with todays technology we can only print up to 2 MP (at any dpi). He knows noting about photography and is saying this because a teacher (who also knows little about photography) told him so. Is this true?

ask your friend what his teacher meant by that.....if you print a 2MP pic on a 8x10 and a 10MP pic on a 8x10.....look at both from an arm's lenght away......i'm sure you can tell the difference

2mp will print a nice 6x4 and a not so great 10x8 and probably a terrible 20x16.

A 10mp image will print even a wonderful 30x20 and larger!!

I say your friend's teacher doesn't know what he's talking about.

As others have intimated, your friend is correct for prints of some sizes and wrong for prints of other sizes. The print size is what would affect the quality of a print from images of varying resolutions.
