So, this is kind of an update to my mpix appreciation thread. I ordered a framed print from them, the glass arrived broken, so I had the glass replaced by a local shop. I told Mpix about it and they said they would refund me the glass amount. That should have solved everything.....

Today, they sent me out an identical framed print to replace the broken one, and it also arrived broken :(. It was a very nice gesture on their part.

Anyone else have problems like this? While its easier to order online, Im just going to get my photos framed locally from now on.

I'd definitely contact Mpix about the situation, but I'm not sure what else they could really do about it. Framing locally or even doing it yourself will be much less of a hassle. I generally just order my prints from Mpix and do the work myself, personally. Over the summer, I'm going to try out the whole custom framing thing. Should be interesting!

Yeah, I honestly dont know what I expect them to do, Its great that I got a new frame + print for free, but now I have to go buy another piece of glass for it, and clean up the glass mess.

That is a big part of the reason I do my own framing. Plus Mpix's framing and materials are very basic and not archival. They are a consumer lab, and not a pro lab after all.

Once Mpix gives the package to the shipper, they have no more control. IIRC they ship their framed prints by Fed-Ex? If so, I would get Fed-Ex in the loop too.

I usually get my frames here if I order them online:
Frames By Mail - Your source for picture frames.

I get their non-glare plexiglass (which actually looks pretty good), so I have never had to worry about them breaking...

You can also just order it with no glass, and get that locally. Does Mpix offer that? (Plexi, or no glass.)

Mpix won't do a framed print and mat, without glass.

You can get framed prints without glass if there is no mat in front of the print.
