Property Shot Overlooking Sunrise (Open for Critique Please=))

Hi peeps!

I took this shot during the weekend out and about on an early morning. It's my first shot using my new Nikon D80. What do you think?
Settings: Aperture: f/13 Exposure: 1/160sec Iso: 200vLens: Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 Focal Length: 17mm

I like the contrast and the smoothness of the water. The dock is a bit distracting. Could you stand on it to avoid it? Or at least desaturate the blue ones?

I think it is a wonderful shot. I actually kind of like the blue parts of the dock, the keep me interested.

I think the contrast/vibrance/hue needs work. Right now it looks like 50 shades of brown to me.

Also, that property looks like it's prone to flooding and lots of bugs.

Funny you would mention the dock! I was contemplating standing on it but I kinda like the blue hues too! Thanks for the tip!

Yup, my thoughts exactly! But I did felt it was a little too dark after I took the shot.

It's actually an abandoned old restaurant, but yes I agree with overdoing it with the brownish hue, that's why the dock adds a little break from being a boring shot.

Not a whole lot of upping the contrast, but this shot still needs some work=)

The only thing I don't like is the plastic dock. A weathered wooden dock would have been great. I would have searched for another foreground. It's getting pretty much towards a silhouette, and so the contrasts look good for that. Maybe boost the lighter color saturation for more of a peach tone. A very high key head turning shot.
