I have lr 5.7.1 and ps cs5 ver 12.1.

I exported a picture from lr and the file ended up being 15.5 MB. Then I opened the raw file of the same pic in ps and increased the resolution and saved as a jpg with the highest quality (12) but the file size is 12.2 MB even though the resolution is higher. Why is that?

The jpg file type is used to reduce the file size of a photo. So when we choose 12 we're saying do the minimum amount of reduction. If say 1 then we're saying do the maximum amount of reduction. So 12 is still reduction, it's just the minimum amount.

Ps CS 5 (Photoshop 12) Camera Raw is Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 6.
Lr 5.7 Develop module is ACR 7.

Which resample interpolation algorithm in Ps did you use to increase the resolution of the image?
Increasing the image resolution does not automatically mean the file size will increase.

In other words, image resolution, print resolution (pixels per inch or PPI), and file size do not have a direct correlation with each other.

Sorry for the late response things got really busy there.

I was printing a wrapped canvas and so part of the image was being wrapped around the edges. This decreased the head room of the image so I increased the canvas size (of the image in ps) then copy and pasted the top 1-1/4” of the image and flipped it so that it looked like a mirror. I hope that makes sense. So no interpolation.
