You have a thing for stamen. Not being a botanist, what is that purple thing coming out of the anther? This does display expertise with your macro, but I'm not a fan of the framing. The deep black well of the bloom is an important element, but, (the big but), it is too far north and occupies too much relatively empty space in the frame. A slightly different angle would have lowered the well and raised the anthers.

The purple boom seems to some sort of mutation. The two anthers are merged into one, it looks as if is producing another amaryllis and another anther in that. I probably should have shot this in a 3:2 format. I really have been more practicing focus, DOF, and 1:1 framing. A lot of times it the 1:1 just is better for flowers but not these. I did shoot this one at 1:1 on purpose to evaluate the impact it has out of camera. I tend to agree with you on the framing but I wanted to share the unusual mutation and the skill of the purposeful manual focus (peaking). The 60mm is just a wonderful piece of precision glass and steel.

The lady that worked there disappeared so I will have to ask her next visit. I have lilly's at home and I try to remove the anthers before they drop pollen on the leaves, I leave them on long enough to pollinate. They last way longer this way.
