Not really, that was just me being taken aback by the bluntness of it all, and the fact that it was too short and didn't explain what am I supposed to do to get it corrected if it was that bloody boring. Get out round London and do some street photography, i'm down a week on Friday and hope to get out for some street photography

Not expert opinion but here's mine anyway

"Underexposed".."Subject" is depends on what the subject is that's important. If it's the light on the hand (and a title like "Helping hand at Dusk" can reinforce) then a look at the histogram shows its ok. I wouldn't underexpose the desired elements through choice. Place it in a Zone which emphasizes what you want to portray. If you want to create a different atmosphere or emphasize an aspect, adjust the greypoints/midpoints to give a different look.

Not the ones I posted, and not much into printing pictures or hanging them off the wall. I might when I need to, but then I am hoping I will do it fine, but not worried now

I am sorry, am I missing anything here? Why is it so important for me to focus on something I rarely do and defend my choice of it? I am happy with the pictures if they look good on my computer or whatever. Is the only purpose of taking pictures and editing to print it out? I hope not. It is a personal preference no?

I don't think so. I don't print the vast majority of what I do, nor do I intend to. I mostly show on Flickr, and here. Not everyone is looking for *correctness*, but what works, even if that is creative choices. I often use the wrong white balance if it gives me the feel *I* want. I simply love making things. Even if it's a picture that you can look at on my Flickr, and that's where it ends.

For instance, I will *never* be a photojournalist. Ever. But I tried my hand at it, posted images, and asked for critique.
Derrel critiqued them very well, and I learned a lot from that. I had another opportunity to apply what he said, and realized how hard it was to capture.

I learned something, I grew a little, got something to strive for and I HAD FUN DOING IT, even though those images will never be printed or used in any way. Heck I spent four hours of my vacation "playing" photojournalist, and I had a blast! THAT is sometimes what it is all about. Just doing it, for the sake of doing it!
