The chairs and tables near to the front plane don't work as a lead in, for me, they merely take the eye to the lamp post left of frame. The people are a little far off and it's a pity there is nothing more interesting in the foreground - perhaps an abandoned coffee cup, newspaper, ashtray, etc.; something that might suggest a little more strongly what it is the people huddling for shelter would rather be doing. Not sure why you have included a little colour on the umbrellas of the people to the right. Is this intentional, and, if so, what is it meant to convey?

All in all, though, I quite like the shot. TFS.

For want oF anything more original in the rain, I thought this classical near/ far shot might be interesting visually. The color was just to provide a way of almost forcing the viewers' eyes up there - the total BW was just too drap but! as I look at it now, it looks too forced.

^^ I had the same exact thought. ^^, but it's so subtle that it works well. Nice shot, I love the shiny wet pavement it really conveys the feeling of a chilly and damp day.

Otherwise I agree about the foreground, that second table would be the perfect spot for some additional material.
