What's new

Recent Senior Portraits-Critiques welcome!

The_Traveler- Your corrections look great! How many photos do you generally edit per client? I feel like that would take up a lot of time to touch up every photo that much.

some with more experience in business can chime in on this one. but I myself only usually touch up around 15-20 or so depending on the situation. how many do you normally edit up?

And if you get a good workflow what traveler suggeted shouldnt take long at all.

It really depends on how tough two things are: 1) making the correct decisions about which way to go and 2) how actually tough it is to do.

It timed the second one, as done below.
With a couple of false starts - and not nearly as good a result as I'd like and not nearly as good a final result - it took me eleven minutes to do the second one from opening the file to saving the file.
The first one took me less time with a better result.

It doesn't take that much time when you get used to it. And trust me, if you're going to pursue photography, you need to get used to it. Clients want to look their best. Especially for work that will be published.

For me (not speaking for The Traveler), it depends on the length of the session and what the client wants in terms of volume of photos. Senior sessions are usually between 10 and 20 for me.

I could do that many with retouching, but I need to start charging more. I usually edit 50+ pictures per session, then only retouch the ones they choose. I try to book all my sessions during the 'golden hours.' These photos were taken less than an hour before sunset.

Thanks for all your help!
