on a unphoto related reponse, you just made me relapse back to the 90's when I use to roll with the old school boys like arlo, roadhouse, petty, etc.

photo response: going from "back in my day" it was common to use wider angle lenses to show where they were comming from and going along with a hard light to fill in the shadow. My suggestion is step back a little, try to get more light from behind you and expose to match.

photo-wise, i think some fill light/flash and a little wider lens would do wonders. I like the angles, though.
