Record setting super moon photo op this month!

Hey all, I read today that we're getting a record setting super moon this month. November 14th to be exact. Thought I'd give everyone a heads up incase you haven't heard. As long as the weather is clear it will make for an amazing photo op!! Post your photos here if you get a chance to shoot it!! I'm interested to see what everyone comes up with!

Last night was a great night to shoot it, and tonight will be as well.

Many don't realize that when the moon is full it is pretty much as close to earth that month as it will get.
Note that a full moon can't rise in the east until about sunset.
If you think about the angles, that's the only time the moon can be at or close to full - when it's opposite the sun.

The moon will be closest tomorrow at about 12:13 PM CST - 350,980 km away - and below the eastern horizon here in the USA.
That's close to 12 hours from being in the optimum part of the sky (near the meridian) for photographing it.
Last month the moon was closest - 352,936 km - at about 14:00 CST here in Iowa, and also still below the eastern horizon here in the USA.

At midnight, just about the optimum time, the moon tomorrow night will be 360,229 miles away already 9,249 km further away than at closest approach for this month.
If you photograph the moon tomorrow night when it is 30° or so above the eastern horizon (about 20:15 CST here in Iowa) the moon will already be 358,244 km from earth.

Was really looking forward to the opportunity to try but where we are tonight there was a lot of surface light around me, and "heavy smoke" from all the wildfires, so it was pretty much a blurry blob. Tried some creative efforts of multiple shots, blending and editing to arrive at this.

Too cloudy so far tonight, there is a halo around the moon. Doubt it will look good, may peak outside a little later.

Why did you use F/11?

I used f5.6 thru f16. Between f8 and f11, the f11 shots were the sharpest and had the most detail. All exposures were on target no matter what A or S combo used. It really was a toss between f8 thru f11. After f11, diffraction was setting in. I was blowing the highlights according to histogram in all shots so I used -1 EC and started over.

My Moon was just Fantastic. It was Superb. When I saw it, it was YUUUUUGE! Other people's moon pictures are just so low energy. My photo was major classy.
