Another dim dull (cold) day, but I dragged the kidlets out for a hike back to the marsh I went to yesterday. Ever feel like the animals are just setting up the shots for you? I'm so energized and satisfied with my work this weekend! I finally feel like I'm seeing some improvement. I can't wait to get a day with good light.

You got some REALLY nice shots there!

Lately, I've felt just the opposite--like the animals are all conspiring against me. I feel like I've had WAY more than my fair share lately of "just missed" shots--bird butts, turned heads, flyoffs JUST before I can get the picture. The birds in particular have apparently had a meeting and decided to just make my life difficult right now. "Psst...hey...watch for that tall red-headed lady...the second she lifts that big black box--Hide!! Jump into the shadows! Or just turn around and MOON her! It'll be hilarious if we all do it!"
Yeah...I might be getting a complex... :lmao:

Great shots, #3 is the winner for me, followed closely by the last ones (geese I think). :D

lol, I just returned back from a shooting session a nearby meadow with a bunch of bird butts, quite a lot of them actually. Think of it this way, we may be the first birders who'll be able to identify birds by looking at their butts; we may even write a book about it with our collective wisdom.

:-) I keep saying that if you can make money off bird butt photos, I'll be rich!
Last Saturday, a friend and I went to a spot that is HIGHLY popular with the birders during migration. The spot is great for birders, but not so much for photographers, because most of the birds are too high up in the very tall trees. When I got home, I posted this on our women's group FB page:

"Went to Sharp Ridge with X. Group of birders there at the same time reported seeing EIGHTEEN species of warblers, plus red-headed woodpecker and yellow-billed cuckoo. Here is what *I* saw:

OP: Sorry for posting a photo in your thread, but THIS is why you should be happy if the animals are all posing for you!

Haha! No, I totally get the bird butts (or blurry swipes of colour - I swear that was a cardinal!). That's usually how it goes, while I curse my slow reaction time. It's rejuvenating to have a couple good days.

See, I have one too!

I don't usually put them on flickr since I save that for "good" photos. But I really nailed the focus on that bird butt.
