It's a little on the dark side, it looks like the camera exposed for the bg light instead of the subject. It's a common mistake so no biggie. I do like the composure and detail.

Change of heart ... if that's how the bird looked naturally in the shade and that's how you wanted to capture it then you did well. Do what pleases you, there is no set way to do photography because it's art and artists have no boundaries.

I like this very much. Love the deep rich colors of a bird in the shadows. Also the composition is spot on. Well done.
