I prefer the color one, withtout the blue tones of the water it does not have as much interest.

I've not seen a color version of this, so have nothing to compare it to. This works just fine for me as a B&W. You've lost no detail in the shadows, the reflection is nice, and the foreground leads the eye easily into the image. Maybe not the most *exciting* of subjects, but there is nothing wrong with the shot.
