Ask yourself what you're portraying... what is the viewer to be impacted by? Is there a message? Cool colors? A neat pattern? Interesting textures? What drew your attention to the subject and is the same draw being carried through in the way you've composed and lit the image?

And do you feel the image has what you intended? Did it have any of those things I mentioned?

The texture and reflections on the lug are interesting, so this is your main subject. The out-of-focus highlights behind it are a good background. However, the red area in the upper right is distracting and there isn't as much going on in the right end of the lug, so I'd crop some on the right, and perhaps also a little on the bottom. This could use just a little more depth of field to make the closer part of the handle a little sharper, but not too bad in that respect.

I agree that it could be cropped a little more. I find this to be an interesting shape and texture. I'm really not on to over analyze though, it is what it is.

Analyzing it... Over doesn't play in here, I don't think... Is how you grow as a photographer.

While you may have an interesting item, I don't think you have successfully turned it into an interesting picture. One does not often easily beget the other.

My feelings...

The object is at the horizontal center.... it is not that rusty, at least in appearance...the observer cannot easily identify what part of the drum it is....
I like the color scheme... Have you more shots at different angles, here?
