Shall I open a can of worms?...

Thanks Sierramister - I think your right on all accounts, I agree witht her guy in tha background, unfortunalty i dont actually have photoshop and none of my editing programs would let me clone that out.
Sonoma i was using a 50m 1.8 lens fro all of these shots, the weather was very bleak and dark. the faster the shot the better the outcome - i dod play around a bit but ireall had to stick to about f2 more or less. :)

GIMP my good man GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program It's a bit clunky but open source and would easily hand a clone out on such a dark backdrop.

f/5.6 would have been a very, very good friend to you. Good ole' f/5.6 would have fetched you cool water, mopped your brow, and rubbed your tired feet at the end of the day....but instead you went there with f/1.8...

Theres nothing wrong with shooting f1.8 outside. Bokeh looks good in the background most of the time.

 There is when there are 6 people in the shot, F1.8 1/2500 these settings are a joke, it could have been shot at f8-F11

Instead of trolling this forum you could offer constructive criticism for the OP aside from "these settings are a joke".

I have given her lots of help with her equestrian stuff, i thought i had i said they could have been shot at F8

"Shoot at f8"..yep lots of help.

This was a lot of help  "Theres nothing wrong with shooting f1.8 outside. Bokeh looks good in the background most of the time." i take it you have never shot group shots

I said most of time, not all the time. And yes I have taken plenty of group shots. Also that was not help to the OP it was a comment to people opposing shooting f1.8 outside.

I guess when I asked about her shooting at F1.8 I was considering the fact that most kit lenses are very soft wide open, not to mention the shallow depth-of-field. Since I had no idea what lens you were shooting I just took a "WAG" and looked at the Sony 50 f1.8. Here is a review on that lens, read the second paragraph under "Sharpness". It pretty much tells all.

Sony Lens: Primes - Sony 50mm f/1.8 SAM SAL-50F18 (Tested) - SLRgear.com!

Oh, and I don't think the photos are that bad, this was just food for thought!

Good luck
