what would make this shot better? i used a homemade gridded snoot for a spotlight effect. i realize the shadow created is rather harsh as it falls on the wood, but how would you get the same effect, and eliminate the hardness of that aspect? another snoot at another angle?

Years ago a photographer did a shot like this wide angle close crop on smooth black shoes with red laces tied in a bow. I don't think you need to see the whole shoe...get in tight
