shooting May Day rally-opinions please

I would like to throw questions. I will be shooting May Day rallies across Toronto on Saturday, May 1, 2010. What lenses shall I use? If I use a macro zoom lens, what will be the desired aperture and shutter speed? What would be my ISO? I plan to shoot NEF-JPG. NEF (Raw) do not appear in editing software unless you click RAW. Which should I use? Thanks very much!
