The most enjoyment I get from Photography is using land enjoying equipment of bygone and distant eras. Old, Yes, Functional, Yes, a Challenge, Yes,,,,, But Goodness, the results can be awesome! Off to shoot the QRS now, hopefully bugs ironed out, and on a tripod (with a bubble level on the camera, hard to hold waist level, level!). I just grabbed working UR Leica #80. Sweeeeeeet.....a Photo showdown. QRS vs UR Leica! Same side by side comparisons! Hey, Fun! I’ll post images after I develop!
I like using old/odd lenses, but I generally prefer to use them on digital bodies (or shoot through the viewfinder).
If I get back into film it will probably be using some of the earliest processes - I have done some sun prints using the cyanotype process in the least year. Most of these early techniques are sufficiently awkward to use that I'll probably only print with them...
I just returned from shooting my 1960's vintage twin lens reflex. I had to cut 120 format to to 127. Another 8 shots and I will see how well I did. I manages to adapt my mom's 1940 Ansco box cameras from 116 film to 120 format. I have also shot a lot of 4x5 cut film in a 1910 view camera I restored.
Going back to film was quite a hoot. Nothing make you feel dumb like forgetting to advance the film or miss-reading the light meter.
