I have an old (but very good) Italian tripod which I am about to retire. The problem is that it is too heavy to carry around during weddings. It is stable but very heavy for wedding work. I guess it is more for landscape. You can even kill a bear with it so it is very useful for nature photography...

I am looking for a tripod which is
- light,

- lasts forever,
- reasonably priced, and
- it is small when collapsed so I can travel with it internationally.

Can you recommend something?

Any ideas on what type of gear you will be using with this tripod? A D40 with a kit lens is much lighter than a D700 with a 70-200 2.8.

Also, what does "reasonably priced" mean to you?
