I want to like it, but I am more interested in what is in the background, so the sticker becomes a distraction.

Sorry.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment Bitter (and no need to apologize - being on PhotoForum means never having to say you're sorry). Of course, given my obsession with bits and scraps of signs I look at it the opposite way, i.e., it's the sign traces that I focus on (literally & figuratively) and the background is just there to support them. Sort of like that drawing where one person might see what's in the left half while another sees the right half (one half was an old crone and the other a young girl, but I don't remember which was on which side).

I don't know if I "like" it, but it definitely keeps me looking, it's very interesting. I agree with Bitter though, and wonder if a shallower DOF would've helped a bit – it wouldn't have made the black background lighter, mind you, but it would've helped smooth the background lines, making the foreground lines sharper in comparison. The tiny bits of colour and the sticky residue are what holds this shot together. Great idea.

Thanks for the comment, Federico. I took one with the lens wider open, but didn't like it as much. I tried processing it in black and white, but couldn't give up the colored bits, so we agree there. A lot of what I do seems to be an acquired taste, or at least I seem to have acquired it.

All problems will be solved if it captioned "the lost information" ;)
