I like the idea, but I feel like these could be improved upon pretty easily. I would tone map the sky, particularly around the sun-- there seems to be a loss of definition in close proximity to the sun, that could easily be fixed. Also, clone out the sun flares.

I think that these would really benefit from an HDR treatment. The scenery looks great but, I would like to see more not less detail.

Or even some more contrast.




Quickly added some clarity, contrast, lowered the whites, brought up the blacks, and did a few other quick touches. Tried a tone-map/HDR but it was near impossible without the original file.

LOL I don't produce proper HDR's I have a tendency to go Chernobyl on them...So I tend to stay away from them...

Then keep practicing! Or, tone map. What I would do is make an HDR out of three exposures (-1, 0, +1), and then take an exposure where the rocks are nicely silhouetted. Then, make the HDR, and merge that with the silhouetted rocks. That way, you have plenty of detail and contrast in the sky, but still have nice deep blacks in the rocks.

I may take another swing at it..I also had forgotten my tripod at the cabin that was 40 miles away so these were handheld.
