Both good captures and I think you got the light pretty good as well as freezing the action. #1 has a particularly distracting background. It may also benefit from a tighter crop with more open space to the right of the subject instead of centered. #2 also has a difficult background that detracts from the otherwise good air the subject achieved. He is framed better than in #1. I suppose shooting from another vantage point where you get the actual walls/jumps as the background will help your subject. If that's not possible, you may need to shoot even more wide open to try to blur out some of the busy-ness of the background.
