I see HDR as one way to get around the short comings of our current sensor technology. Trying to do what the human eye has no problem doing. Some day we'll have 25 stop range sensors.

HDR has its place and your photo is a prime example of it. When properly done (like here), HDR creates the illusion of perfect exposure – that's awesome. In my photos I aim for drama more than perfection, so HDR is not for me

Thanks. Agreed, I don't think your photo has much need for it. But everyone was kinda bashing it and I just wanted to point out it has it's place. I could have done the above shot with lots more flashes in one exposure as well. But it might have started to look a little fake.
