If you open the pics in photoshop and mess with the levels you can kill off a lot of the mist effect. Give it a go.
I used 23 - .75 - 202 on the 2nd shot and got lovely results

I would LOVE to...if I knew how to use PS better

They're really great. If you play with the levels a little bit you can get rid of the haze and your images will be even greater then they already are.
