You do realize they would also enjoy capturing you?

I've only had one run in with a gator and I was on a kayak, so the worries were real..fortunately a hard snap of the paddle on his nose thwarted any further aggression.

We floated the Peace River in southern FL on kayaks, couple of years ago. In a little over 8 miles we counted 20. Most of them were less than 6' and after the initial shock of seeing them up close we grew complacent. We were fossil hunting and had drifted close to the shore, looking for gravel signs. I drifted around a tree in the water, and came eye to eye with 14 footer laying on a log jutting out into the water. Never been that close to one that big before, and never want to again. Fortunately the current was moving me at a decent pace, moving me quickly out of his reach, because there was no way I was going to smack him on the nose and P*** him off!!!!! There after we stayed away from the shore. Apparently he was well known to the locals who had named him Old Grumpy.

I was thinking of going Steve Erwin on their asses. How hard can it be?
