I was gonna say, if you can't get close, feed it steroid-laced food until it grows larger... but...THIS will do nicely instead! Looks like a slight CCW rotate and even more cropping off the left side would help. I LIKE the way you did this though!

Either one mini Egret or massive leaves, well done though and B/W seems to suit it with the Egret already being white. I see what Derrel means with the rotate and crop. Give that a shot and post it up, could be very interesting.

All the best.

Danny.

I never saw it was crooked until you said something! Also, I didn't make a copy of the raw after converting, so I had to try and remember what all I did! Good grief!!

We have plenty of these in the keys here and you can use, Silver Sides or good bait fish to draw them in but its all was good to have super telephoto.

I was envisioning a crop looking something along these lines.

Well when you can't get close enough why not just turn it in to a artistic nature shot with a bonus twist of a egret.I actually like this and the PP work on it.Well done snerd. I like Derrels crop to, kept it long but got the bird in the thirds.

Yes, that was my goal: keep it wide, but put the bird on a thirds intersection, AND just as critically, to eliminate that on-shore ROCK without cloning. The doggone rock on the shoreline was very distracting, and really hurt. I wanted the composition to seem "wide", rather than "tall", since the bird is looking into the vegetation, eliminating the excessive top space seemed like the right thing to do. ALso, eliminating the little extra bit of shoreline helped with the "water bird" type feeling, as well as getting rid of the rock.

Good idea too. Here is the color version, it didn't look right to me, so that's why I converted it.

I like both crops in this, yours and Derrel's. Also love the colour original as well. A tough choice IMO. Those are massive leaves !!. The scale in this shot is great, love it.

All the best and well done either way.

Danny.

I like the B/W version better...the first one. I would zoom in close in that first one if I were you...I used CTRL + scroll and it looked good. Have you tried it like that just for a look-see?

I have. It's already cropped probably 60-70%, I get a little nervous cropping more. But perhaps I can now that the 5D3 is full frame and supposed to handle it better.
