Also, all these shots feel very distant and removed. Aren't baby shots often in closer? More personal? So we can go AWWWWWWWW???

Sure, I mean, yea....If you want your baby pics to look like every other baby pic on the net....something a little different every now and then is kinda nice.

I've been trying to focus more on my backgrounds and surroundings.

..which is a bit ironic since the two extra pictures you posted were completely out of focus!

Even though dad's back there the pose looks a bit awkward, would have been better maybe with his hands down supporting himself (the way kids that age often sit with their hands on their knees/legs) and something other than that blanket being sort of bunched. I thought the wall looked a little crooked but since it's stone can't really tell, I think I might like it shot a bit tighter. You got some great expressions, looked like he was having fun.

Right. Newborns are babies from birth to four weeks. Babies can hold their heads at three months and can sit at six...

I'm not a fan of extreme close ups, 'not my style'. But I do agree with you how most baby shots are closer. What I said above also, I'm new to baby shots so I lack that knowledge towards those shots. Thanks for the insight though.
