This picture was shot for a photo contest, and unlike most of my work there has been a fair amount of post processing work done in Capture NX. Basically I burned in the corners and cropped it, and darkened the background fur.

The contest was for a picture that says "softly, softly"... therefore it is shot "softly" on purpose.

EXIF: D300, 70-200 VR with TC-17 (a bit more depth of field but still wide open), handheld, 1/60s f/4.8 ISO1250 185mm shot JPEG Vivid with the saturation cranked up to about a zillion. Flash bounced off the top of the enclosure, shot through glass.

I love the colours and the expression. What species is that?

Golden Lion Tamarin (Leontopithecus rosalia), also known as Golden Marmoset

Excellent! I think the softness really works for this shot, it helps isolate the subject I think. The expression in the face is excellent. Great capture!

Almost reminds me of those monsters on The Labrynth with the detachable heads.

Great and very unique shot though, I really like!
