70mm...a good length for a lot of situations.


IMHO, 70 would be preferred over 55 or 60 as a short macro...especially since at 1:1 magnification , most lenses will lose a fair amount of focal length. If I recall correctly, my Tamron 90 mm macro is 90 mm when focused at Infinity, but only about 73 mm in length when focused at 1 to 1.

Thanks again, all. @Derrel, I wanted a proper macro that I could use when we go to Florida that will also give me a good general purpose focal length for using on the grandkids. I think this will fit that role just fine.
