I was at my grandpa's ranch for a couple days and took some shots. Any tips on composure, technique, etc would be greatly appreciated!

1. This calf was born just a couple minutes before I took this picture. I stumbled across the mama calfing while hiking out in the back.

2. I had to hike for hours before getting lucky with a hawk. They always make me walk forever to get to them, then just fly away :-D Anyways, this guy is a red-shouldered hawk ruffling his feathers before taking flight.

3. These guys are curious little buggers. They saw me crest a hill and came running over -- keeping their distance though!

4. Oh, and this windmill was in a neighboring orchard. Thought it was kinda cool looking in b&w

Welcome to the forum.

These are some really nice shots! (Sorry, I'm not able to give you technical help) I like your compositions in 1 and 3, and agree the windmill shot looks very good in b/w. I hope to see more of your pics.

I like #1, has kind of an "Atom Heart Mother" thing going for it.
