Paradigm 7 SE speaker...

Occasionally I read a thread and my instant response on seeing a picture is literally, "No." That was my response here.

I say this not to be mean so much as to indicate the strength of my conviction. There is unfortunately just nothing here at all. No real interest, some serious composition issues, some technical issues as well... and I don't think there's any way to represent this subject as interesting. You could go with some serious macro assuming there's something to see there, but I think that would be pushing it.

Whenever you take a picture, ask yourself how the image is going to impact the viewer emotionally... if there is no impact, then there is essentially no shot.

Keep trying.

I understand what you're saying and, I appreciate you're honesty and feedback.

I've been shooting "snapshots" with an SLR for over 20 years now. Its only in the past 5 years or so that I've started taking photography seriously. I have taught myself a lot about exposure (ISO, Shutter and Aperture), manual and creative modes, learned how to use my dSLR, read a few books and watched a pile of videos... taught myself (ongoing process) to do basic PP...

Its a work in progress. But, I love photography. So health permitting and with a ton more practice, I'll learn what I'm good at/interested in.

I'm thinking that my interest in portraiture and macro are going to be my strong suits (maybe sports, if I can manage to find the funds for a good lens). Although, I do still like to experiment and try new/different things.

maybe try a different perspective?

It would appear that the whole aspect of composition is something you probably would want to read up on...some good sites on composition here: Photography Composition Articles: General . There are literally hundreds of thousands more including this one by Ron Bigelow. The first is one of a three part series - the links to the next part are at the bottom of each: Advanced Composition -- Part I. As well, there are also dozens of books that deal with the whole aspect of composition...see, for example, Learning to See Creatively (Revised edition) by Bryan Peterson. HTH.

Cheers,

Perhaps a longer exposure so the motion of the speaker can be rendered as a blur inside the speaker mount?

Hmmm... that sounds like a fun idea to try! Maybe with strobe flash.. to try and catch multiple ghost images of the cone in different positions in a single image, with a little ambient to contribute the blur. Now I wish I had my old studio monitor that had a 12" sub.. that thing moved like three or four inches! :)

Thanks for your input. But at the moment I am recovering from seizures cause by a malignant brain tumor, and my brain/eyes aren't getting along. So reading more than a couple lines at a time is not an option.

Although composition isn't my best thing... I can usually do ok with it. This one photo admittedly was a week example to be sure. I will check out the links you suggested when I am able...

I agree. I'll add that to my project list. :)

What would you suggest... 5 seconds (ish)... longer? shorter?
